Custom Fiberglass Chopped Strand Mat is a versatile reinforcement material used in FRP manufacturing and composite forming. Yuruis supplies different weights, widths and roll configurations for hand lay-up, filament winding, compression molding and other industrial processes. Custom specifications are available to match production requirements, with factory supply and bulk quotation from Taizhou, China.
Custom Fiberglass Chopped Strand Mat is different from woven fiberglass fabric. It is made by chopping continuous glass fiber strands into approximately 50 mm lengths, randomly distributing the strands and bonding them into a nonwoven mat with a powder or emulsion binder. The random fiber structure allows the mat to be cut and layered according to the shape of the mold and the laminate design. It can be used with unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester and other compatible resin systems, depending on the production process. Yuruis supplies several standard area weights as well as customized specifications for FRP production.

Choosing the Right Mat Weight
The appropriate chopped strand mat weight depends on the laminate design, required thickness, resin system and forming process. A lighter mat can be useful where thinner layers or easier handling are required, while 450 g/m² and 600 g/m² grades provide more fiberglass material per layer. The 900 g/m² grade is available for applications requiring a heavier mat.
For customers developing a new FRP product, the selection should be based on the complete laminate rather than area weight alone. Resin content, number of layers, molding conditions and the required properties of the finished component all need to be considered.
Custom Width, Weight and Roll Configuration
Yuruis supplies 1040 mm as a standard width, while the general production range is approximately 50–3300 mm. Narrow widths can be specified for cutting or particular production equipment, while wider rolls may be suitable for large-area FRP molding.
Area weight is also not limited to the listed standard grades. Specifications such as 180 g/m², 240 g/m² and 375 g/m² can be discussed according to the customer's production requirements. Standard roll weight is 32 kg, with other roll weights available according to order requirements.
For a Custom Fiberglass Chopped Strand Mat, customers can provide the required area weight, width, roll weight, annual or order quantity, resin system and forming process.
Typical Applications
FRP Panels and Molded Products
Chopped strand mat is commonly used in panels, covers, housings and other FRP molded products where the reinforcement is built up through multiple mat layers.
Chemical Tanks and Pipes
The material can be used in FRP tanks, chemical-resistant pipelines and related equipment, with the final corrosion resistance determined by the resin system and complete laminate construction.
Boats and Marine Components
The mat is used as part of fiberglass composite laminates for boats and other marine components manufactured by hand lay-up and related processes.
Cooling Towers and Industrial Equipment
FRP cooling tower components, equipment housings and other industrial composite parts can incorporate chopped strand mat as part of their reinforcement structure.
Sanitary Ware, Building Components and Automotive Parts
The material can also be considered for sanitary ware, construction components, automotive accessories and other FRP products where chopped glass fiber reinforcement is required.
Why Choose Yuruis
Factory-Based Production
Yuruis operates its own composite material production facilities in Taizhou, Jiangsu, supporting fiberglass reinforcement materials from production and processing to inspection and packing. This factory-based setup allows specifications such as mat weight, width and roll configuration to be discussed directly with the production side.
Production Equipment
The production facility is equipped with dedicated processing and manufacturing equipment for composite materials. Equipment shown in the workshop includes production machinery, material handling equipment and supporting processing facilities used in daily manufacturing.
R&D and Testing
An R&D laboratory is available for material development and product evaluation. For customers with non-standard requirements, technical discussions can be based on the intended resin system, forming process, material weight, width and other production conditions before a specification is finalized.
Production and Environmental Management
Yuruis pays attention to production conditions, material handling and environmental requirements during manufacturing. Where a specific environmental or compliance standard is required for an export order, the applicable documentation and requirements can be confirmed before production.
Inventory for Regular Orders
For commonly requested materials and specifications, maintaining production stock and finished rolls helps support repeat orders and regular production schedules. For customized products, production and delivery time can be confirmed according to the specification and order quantity.
Export Packing and Delivery
Finished fiberglass materials are prepared for shipment according to the order specification, with packaging arranged for export transportation. Delivery planning can take into account product width, roll weight, order quantity and destination, helping customers organize receiving and production schedules.
